IST Building

Better than IST Tech Trak

Today we opened up a new job board at IST Building. The IST Building job board is intended to be an alternative rather than a replacement for “ISTechTrak” (I wonder who came up with this hard-to-remember name that is spelled in a completely retarded way). Our vision is to provide an outlet for smaller companies and startups to approach IST students and graduates with employment opportunities.

Relevant jobs are extracted from the award-winning job search engine Simply Hired, while needless to say the main feature allows interested employers to post jobs and internships specifically targeted to our College of IST.

The interface is intuitive and does not require a login for you to search through the available positions.

We hope that the IST Building job board is a useful tool to help students seek out internships and jobs in the technology sector. Please let us know what you think about it by leaving a comment below.

I wouldn’t be so quick to knock on TechTrak. Beyond having job postings specifically geared towards us IST kids, it’s a unified system that makes its way around the various grapevines of IST, and there are people professionally managing it as well. I think their efforts are commendable. The name’s not really important (but finding it easily is, I admit), and heaven forbid that there’s a login so that only IST students can see it. I know that extra click and keystrokes must be such a bother. I agree with you on the interface though, it’s a little prickly.

I can’t stress enough however, not relying solely on a system like this to find a job. I wanted to move somewhere new this summer (sorry but the PA/NY/VA/DC scene is a little old to me) so I took it into my own hands and found a job posting that suited exactly what I want. This system seems to pull jobs from the same companies that IST has all the time, and they’re a little stale. Why not try google, or a search engine geared towards specific types of jobs?

Just out of curiosity, are these comments moderated?

@Tim Knapton: Well, I guess that answers my question =)

@Tim Knapton: Comments from first time users are held for moderation always, but after that first approval everything goes through except for when more than two hyperlinks are present in the comment.

I can’t help but I have to comment on the sentence you wrote and I quote:

““ISTechTrak” (I wonder who came up with this hard-to-remember name that is spelled in a completely retarded way)”

I found this comment to be rather unprofessional and very unappropriate for college students to use such offensive language on what I think supposed to be a professional web site (otherwise you will not be looking for ad sponsors).

@Angsana Techatassanasoontorn: Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll exercise more control over my choice of words in the future.

Tech track was one of the reasons I joined this major. Now it’s gone and this new thing is just all developer and other CS jobs. Way to go, this sucks.
