Penn State Dominates IdeaBlob: The Fog Clears and Matt Allison is on Top
Breaking News — Matt Allison (Senior, Economics) is the winner of April’s IdeaBlob competition, winning $10k to develop a portable touch screen device that syncs with a fitness-based social networking website.
We’re on a roll here. PSU’s Mashavu team won back in February.
Apparently, IdeaBlob is the easiest way to win $10k for your business idea. All it takes is a general description of your idea and you leave the rest up to your social influence. The idea with the most votes wins. No need for a formal business plan or an idea pitch. How simple is that?
IdeaBlob is a great opportunity to launch startups from Penn State with some basic capital. Participating in IdeaBlob would be an exciting summer project for many IST students interested in entrepreneurship. We should organize a large mailing list of PSU students to notify when a Penn Stater gets on the radar so that our numbers can annihilate the competition. We saw a glimpse of what was possible with the recent rally around Startup Weekend.
Update: Matt Allison just notified me about a IdeaBlob check presentation event this Thursday, May 8th at 5PM in the Business Building lobby. The folks from Advanta will be running the event for approximately 30 minutes followed by pizza and a great networking opportunity for students and faculty. There will be faculty from both the College of Engineering and the College of Business.
