IST Building

What’s planned for the 2008-2009 academic year

With the onset of the new academic year, IST Building is shifting directions.

Here are some items we have in store for you in the near future:

  • Recruit more exceptional blogging/journalism talent from the College of IST. We will now handpick our writers and articles, so open registration is no longer available. Please email me at daehee@istbuilding.com if you are interested.
  • Change the focus of IST Building from the currently internal to an external scope, where our students can exercise their expertise in current affairs in the broad field of information sciences and technology. I envision an online magazine where the global tech community comes to read the opinions and insight of IST students.
  • Develop more interesting and useful tools for the IST community such as the internship map. Matt Maisel already created a Friendfeed Room, which can be used as a aggregated feed and forum for the community, and we will soon market this to our students.
  • Increase traffic to at least 5,000 uniques per day. This increased readership base would have to come from outside of our College, of course.
  • Collaborate with MIST and IST2U to improve the quality of undergraduate journalism in the College of IST.
  • Work closely with student clubs and research projects within the College of IST to offer unprecedented awareness to the community.

We’d like to hear your thoughts as well so please feel free to comment. What are some things we can work on to improve the quality of IST Building?
