Now, some words from David Adewumi’s press release:

Heekya is changing the way consumers create, share, and discover stories. Heekya allows consumers to easily integrate images, video, sounds, and words to create interactive stories that can be shared with family, friends, and the world. Heekya is Wikipedia for digital media stories. You can see a screencast of our video here, as well a sample of stories created in our alpha product, here and here.

Current web applications don’t allow users to easily update, add to, edit, and share their stories. Daily worldwide viewers are consuming 1 billion videos of video on Youtube , uploading 14 million photos on Facebook, writing hundreds of thousands of blog posts, and 35% of all Americans 18-34-years-old are content creators online — yet there exists no single, easy interface to store and publish that content.

We built Heekya to allow users to collect disparate media from their personal archive or from across the web, create an interactive story that reflects the breadth and expansiveness of real world narratives, provide location and time-based context to that story, discover interesting stories happening around them, and connect the world’s stories together on both a micro and macro level.

Prior to Heekya, founder David Adewumi was a reporter for VentureBeat, a prominent, high profile Silicon Valley and venture capital blog and has a solid, proven background in tech and project management. He was a product manager at Lomic, Inc., a software firm where he led and delivered projects for Exxon Mobil, Williams, and others.

The company has made significant progress toward its upcoming launch thanks to the Launchbox Digital program, which seed funds and mentors start-ups. Heekya’s official private alpha launch will take place at the LB pitch day event on August 6 in Reston, VA and August 7 in Palo Alto, CA, at the offices of Cooley Godward Kronish LLP.
