Are you interested in international opportunities?

There’s a new Facebook group called Go Global in IST that’s been gaining traction in the community. Created by Matt Prindible (President, IST Student Government), the group has started an initiative to globalize the scope of the IST curriculum. If you haven’t already, check it out and post to the wall.

The following is Matt Prindible’s introduction to the Facebook group:

Hello everyone–

Last year, a cooperative effort between IST and the Grenadian Ministry of Education yielded an opportunity for 5 IST Students to live and work in Grenada over the summer, IST’s first official international internship.

This year, Honeywell International provided four IST students the opportunity to live and work in Bangalore, India for the entire summer, IST’s first corporate international internship opportunity.

Programs like the aforementioned take an incredible amount of time and effort to plan and carry a great deal of risk for both IST and the party sponsoring the program. However, by showing support for these programs, we can show all parties interested in creating these opportunities that there is plenty of support.

The purpose of this group is to gauge the interest of the IST student body in international opportunities. If you are interested, please join. If you have had international experience (from another country, study aboard, summer travel, proficiencies in another language, etc.) please post on the wall with your experience.

Once we have a large enough sample group, we can begin to make a case for more programs and opportunities. You’ll see more about this in the Fall.

Thanks for your help!
