There's an interesting discussion going on at Scout.com with insightful statements given by IST alumni. They talk about what an IST degree is worth, which is a mildly controversial topic among current students. I've heard playful phrases such as "You can't spell bullshit without IST" or "IST stands for I'm Self Taught." This forum thread takes this to the next level by offering real stories from our alumni. ...

PSU FORUMS . COM is scribbled all over the whiteboard facing out of the glass networking lab by the Cybertorium. I first noticed PSU Forums back in May from the numerous flyers posted in each of the IST classrooms. I liked the concept but doubted that it would catch on with the Penn State community. It still hasn't.
The problem is that Penn State itself is not niched enough ...

Russ Beck (Freshman, SRA) is fairly new to the blogosphere but he's making some serious waves with his blog titled Counter-Terrorism and Security. Russ mentioned last week that his blog was noticed by The Journal of Counterterrorism and Homeland Security International, and now there is a possibility of Russ and Ali Ziab (Junior, SRA) being published in the industry magazine. All because of an article on his blog! ...

When you do a Google search for "college of ist," the 5th and 6th results are from a personal blog titled "Daily Asshattery in the College of IST." Contrary to expectations, there actually isn't much content within this blog that ridicules the College, but the title of the site needless to say shines a negative light when it comes up right underneath the official College of IST website.
I'm ...

Several IST students and alumni have taken offense to my previous comment regarding the IST Students vs. Alumni and Mentor Breakfast events. I would like to clarify my comment and apologize for all offense caused. I did not in any way mean to detract from the hard work and effort put into the events by the leaders of the IST Alumni Society and the students responsible ...

I wrote an enthusiastic post yesterday, after the IST Mentorship Breakfast, about the success of the IST Mentorship Program. A source says otherwise.
I didn't realize it at the time, but only 3 IST Mentors showed up at yesterday's Mentorship Breakfast out of only 7 who RSVP'd 5 IST Mentors showed up at yesterday's Mentorship Breakfast. There are about 35 Mentors total. I talked to a couple of Mentees ...

I stared in shock as I saw a squad of nerf gun-wielding college students with orange bandanas around their foreheads tread through our playground. My daughter and I were chilling in the playground with several other families when we saw this spectacle.
Now, these guys have no reason to come to our housing complex because we are clearly separated from the rest of University Park. I live in ...
